The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots still glaring, the Steelers used the 62nd overall pick on Kingsley Suamataia, an offensive lineman they were not exactly short of.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Reaching for McCaffrey left real value on the table behind him.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
