Draft Grade — Panthers

A solid, sensible weekend for the Panthers: B-. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Panthers started one anyway for Chris Paul Jr., 23 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Mykel Williams
In slot 8 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
Chris Paul Jr.
A real head-scratcher, Chris Paul Jr. in No. 57 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
