Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureB+
A franchise passer in Nix headlines a B weekend for the Broncos.

You could see the war room lean forward. DJ James at pick 126 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

Whatever Bo Nix becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Travis has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In the 25th overall pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Jer'Zhan Newton
Jer'Zhan Newton in slot 55 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick76 Rnd3 Adisa Isaac
Taking Adisa Isaac in pick 76 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cade Stover
Steal is underselling it; Cade Stover at the 121st pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick126 Rnd4 DJ James
A cornerback of that caliber at the 126th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick136 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea in slot 136 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick145 Rnd5 James Williams
James Williams at pick No. 145 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick147 Rnd5 Beau Brade
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Beau Brade at No. 147. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick158 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis at Round 5, Pick 22 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
Pick203 Rnd6 Trevor Keegan
The board fumbled Trevor Keegan all the way to the 203rd pick, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan slipping to Round 6, Pick 32 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
