For all the boxes ticked, the Patriots skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

However the rest shakes out, Williams at that price is a win they earned. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
