Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Larceny in No. 212 lands the Ravens a D, Sanders and all.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Raheim Sanders, the No. 148 name on the board, stolen at pick 212. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. With quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. They will need Ivey to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
In the 27th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense. More want than need.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jared Ivey
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jared Ivey. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick70 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Azareye'h Thomas at the 70th pick is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Danny Stutsman adds a linebacker while quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick91 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Kevin Winston Jr. at No. 91, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick176 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They took Dont'e Thornton Jr. at par in pick 176, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick183 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at slot 183 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick203 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
A slide stopped in pick No. 203, with Oronde Gadsden II worth more than the price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jack Nelson
The board fumbled Jack Nelson all the way to the 210th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick212 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick243 Rnd7 John Williams
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on John Williams. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
