Draft Grade — Jaguars

FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Jaguars a B. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Jaguars reached some 104 spots for Xavian Sorey Jr., and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The Robertson value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick64
Rnd2
Elijah Sarratt
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Elijah Sarratt for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick85
Rnd3
Jaeden Roberts
They did well to land Jaeden Roberts in No. 85, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick94
Rnd3
Whit Weeks
Whit Weeks in pick 94 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick96
Rnd3
C.J. Fite
C.J. Fite at Round 3, Pick 32 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick100
Rnd3
Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers in the 100th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Jack Endries
By-the-book stuff, Jack Endries at slot 104 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120
Rnd4
Monroe Freeling
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Monroe Freeling. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
They let Jalon Kilgore come to them and pounced at No. 130. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick132
Rnd4
Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers at the 132nd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at pick No. 159 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick172
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol in slot 172 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick186
Rnd6
Carson Beck
A tidy bit of business in pick 186, where Carson Beck graded well above the range. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224
Rnd7
Sawyer Robertson
A quarterback of that caliber at the 224th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228
Rnd7
Desmond Reid
A reach on Desmond Reid in Round 7, Pick 14; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
No edge and no loss on Trey Zuhn III in the 232nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick243
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
No drama and no debate, Jerry Wilson went about where he belonged in pick No. 243. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick244
Rnd7
TJ Metcalf
They reached a country mile for TJ Metcalf at slot 244, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick246
Rnd7
Smith Snowden
They jumped the gun on Smith Snowden, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247
Rnd7
Pat Coogan
A straight-up fair deal on Pat Coogan at the 247th pick, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick250
Rnd7
Fernando Carmona
The board had cheaper options than Fernando Carmona at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick251
Rnd7
Cayden Lee
They took Cayden Lee at par in pick 251, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick256
Rnd7
Xavian Sorey Jr.
Xavian Sorey Jr. at Round 7, Pick 42 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
