Birds DRAFTING FOR THEEagles
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Grand theft in the 164th pick: the Eagles steal Stutsman and grade out a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Danny Stutsman had no business being available in slot 164, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Reaching for Bryant left real value on the table behind him.
They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get an enforcer at safety, and a steal at that.
Pick63
Rnd2
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in No. 63 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick95
Rnd3
Azareye'h Thomas
By-the-book stuff, Azareye'h Thomas at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick128
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
They will replay Tez Johnson at the 128th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at the 160th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick164
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Danny Stutsman in pick 164, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick166
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
They jumped the gun on Cobee Bryant, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
