The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Watts: B.

The Bills spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Xavier Watts, the No. 44 name on the board, in the Round 2 slot.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In slot 30 they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas in the 56th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick62 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
The board fumbled Xavier Watts all the way to No. 62, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92 Rnd3 Savion Williams
Savion Williams at pick 92 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132 Rnd4 Cody Simon
By-the-book stuff, Cody Simon at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick169 Rnd5 Kalel Mullings
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kalel Mullings at the 169th overall pick is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt at pick No. 173 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick206 Rnd6 Thomas Fidone II
Thomas Fidone II in Round 6, Pick 30 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
