FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Bills. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bills did exactly that with Curtis Jacobs in the Round 5 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.
A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick41
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Adonai Mitchell in slot 41. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick60
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
They went early on Patrick Paul in the 60th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jalyx Hunt
Jalyx Hunt at the 128th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick134
Rnd4
Mason McCormick
They jumped the gun on Mason McCormick, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick143
Rnd5
Dillon Johnson
Value said wait; Dillon Johnson in No. 143 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Pick144
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
They read the board right and Jarrian Jones was the payoff at the Round 5 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick160
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 24 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick163
Rnd5
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in No. 163 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
