Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueC NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bills worked the phones like thieves and earned a B.

The Bills clearly saw something nobody else did in Javion Cohen, taking him 63 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. DeJean at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
They took Brian Thomas Jr. at par in slot 28, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick39 Rnd2 Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean slipping to pick 39 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick61 Rnd2 Austin Booker
They paid up for Austin Booker at pick No. 61 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Good price on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in Round 3, Pick 7, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81 Rnd3 Beaux Limmer
A big swing on Beaux Limmer at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick94 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
The board had cheaper options than Leonard Taylor III at the 94th overall pick, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
By-the-book stuff, Cole Bishop at slot 99 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick106 Rnd4 Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen at No. 106 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick136 Rnd4 Layden Robinson
Value said wait; Layden Robinson in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick144 Rnd5 Joe Milton III
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
