Draft Grade — Bills
Overall

FutureB-
The Bills won the night they stopped Simpson from sliding. Grade: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Jaylin Simpson, the No. 137 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 6 slot.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Nourzad reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In pick 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean in No. 60 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick128
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
No drama and no debate, Mohamed Kamara went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 28. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick134
Rnd4
Hunter Nourzad
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hunter Nourzad in pick No. 134, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick144
Rnd5
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick160
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
They paid a round early for Javion Cohen in the 160th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick163
Rnd5
Marist Liufau
They paid sticker price for Marist Liufau in slot 163, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick189
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
They jumped the gun on Joe Milton III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at pick No. 200 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick204
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
A tidy bit of business in pick 204, where Cornelius Johnson graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248
Rnd7
Donovan Jennings
Nice patience on Donovan Jennings, who had no business lasting to No. 248. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
