Draft Grade — Bills

The Bills robbed the room for Alexander. Final grade: B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Darius Alexander, the 169th overall pick, roughly 76 picks past where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The Burke pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with linebacker, edge rusher and other spots still on the board.
They will need Webb to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In pick No. 30 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at Round 2, Pick 26 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick62
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts at No. 62 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Zy Alexander at the Round 4 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick132
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Denzel Burke at cornerback with linebacker, edge rusher and other spots open.
Pick166
Rnd5
Jaylin Noel
They will replay Jaylin Noel at slot 166 for years; that is how good the value is. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick169
Rnd5
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at the 169th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick170
Rnd5
DJ Giddens
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on DJ Giddens. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173
Rnd5
CJ West
They jumped the gun on CJ West, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177
Rnd6
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the 177th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick192
Rnd6
James Burnip
The board fumbled James Burnip all the way to No. 192, and they scooped it up. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
