FutureC
The Bills got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bills spent the 113th pick on Justin Eboigbe, a name most had 36 spots down the list.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Thrash falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Byron Murphy II
In the 28th pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 12, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick60
Rnd2
Roman Wilson
Roman Wilson slipping to the 60th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick66
Rnd3
T.J. Tampa
You do not let a cornerback like T.J. Tampa reach No. 66 and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick99
Rnd3
Javon Baker
Fair-plus on Javon Baker, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick113
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Justin Eboigbe well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick129
Rnd4
Christian Jones
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at pick No. 129 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick159
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
Value with a capital V on Tykee Smith in Round 5, Pick 23, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jamari Thrash
Somehow Jamari Thrash was still sitting there in slot 162, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick198
Rnd6
Michael Barrett
A big swing on Michael Barrett at the 198th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
