Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesA- FutureD
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B-.

The curious call sets the tone. With linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots still glaring, the Bills used the Round 3 slot on Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE they were not exactly short of. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. They will need Smith to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. On the needs board they went 3 of 9, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick60 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at No. 60 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Maason Smith
A want over a need in pick 84: Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE while linebacker, offensive lineman and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick99 Rnd3 Cole Bishop
A reach on Cole Bishop in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick129 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
They reached a country mile for Justin Eboigbe at the 129th pick, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
By-the-book stuff, Kamal Hadden at pick No. 159 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
