Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Bills.

The Bills clearly saw something nobody else did in Hayden Conner, taking him 61 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Getting Nolen where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

On the needs board they went 8 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the 30th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
They went early on Maxwell Hairston in the 56th pick, and the value did not follow. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick63 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in pick 63 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick109 Rnd4 Kobe King
Kobe King at pick No. 109 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 Bhayshul Tuten
They left a pile of value on the table to take Bhayshul Tuten this early at Round 4, Pick 30. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick133 Rnd4 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick169 Rnd5 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
They reached into another round for KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick170 Rnd5 Jalen McLeod
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen McLeod well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick173 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
This one needs a full-page explanation: Oronde Gadsden II in the 173rd pick, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick177 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
A straight-up fair deal on Quincy Riley at pick No. 177, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick206 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner in Round 6, Pick 30 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick251 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
They took Ty Hamilton at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
