Draft Grade — Bills

The phones sank the Bills this weekend: C. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bills did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Call it a C and check back in two years.
For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Zuhn III reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
If Caleb Downs and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick No. 11 they get a ballhawk on the back end, and a steal at that.
Pick56
Rnd2
A'Mauri Washington
The board had cheaper options than A'Mauri Washington at the 56th pick, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick124
Rnd4
Chris Johnson
Good price on Chris Johnson in slot 124, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick163
Rnd5
Tanner Koziol
Tanner Koziol in pick 163 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick222
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III at the 222nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
