Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Bills: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bills reached some 35 spots for Eric Watts, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B.

On value alone, Sweat makes the weekend a net positive. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick36 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Troy Franklin. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick60 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 28. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick78 Rnd3 T'Vondre Sweat
They read the board right and T'Vondre Sweat was the payoff at the 78th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jarrian Jones
Nothing to complain about; Jarrian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick133 Rnd4 Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at the Round 4 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick144 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
They paid a round early for Mason McCormick in No. 144, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick163 Rnd5 James Williams
They went early on James Williams in the 163rd overall pick, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick200 Rnd6 Dominique Hampton
A quiet steal in pick No. 200: Dominique Hampton for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick204 Rnd6 Eric Watts
Eric Watts at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick248 Rnd7 Kendall Milton
Kendall Milton at the 248th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
