Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bills for Shough: B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bills watched Tyler Shough slide 22 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. The cost of the Lambert-Smith reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In pick No. 30 they get a true top target, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56 Rnd2 Ashton Gillotte
Ashton Gillotte at slot 56 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick62 Rnd2 Deone Walker
Deone Walker in pick 62 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick108 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
Fair-plus on Kevin Winston Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick131 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
They paid up for Mello Dotson at the 131st pick when waiting would have done the job. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick171 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
They did well to land Bhayshul Tuten in the 171st overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick175 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
Taking Tyler Shough in Round 5, Pick 36 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick179 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
They jumped the gun on KeAndre Lambert-Smith, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick206 Rnd6 Luke Elzinga
Luke Elzinga in the 206th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick208 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
