The Bills let Neal fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Devin Neal, the No. 82 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot.
They are betting Horn Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Myles Garrett gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Trey Amos
By-the-book stuff, Trey Amos at the 56th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick62
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
A tidy bit of business in pick 62, where Tyleik Williams graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick107
Rnd4
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 107 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick130
Rnd4
Kevin Winston Jr.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in No. 130, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick171
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Smael Mondon Jr. at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick172
Rnd5
Connor Colby
Connor Colby in Round 5, Pick 35 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175
Rnd5
Nazir Stackhouse
They went early on Nazir Stackhouse in slot 175, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick202
Rnd6
Devin Neal
They will replay Devin Neal at the 202nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204
Rnd6
Jimmy Horn Jr.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at pick No. 204 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
