Draft Grade — Bills

FutureD
The Bills worked the phones like thieves and earned a B-. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Bills came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. With linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.
The Jackson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In No. 21 they get a problem off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier in the 55th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They bypassed pressing needs at linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick103
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
No edge and no loss on Cole Bishop in Round 4, Pick 3; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Brennan Jackson
Brennan Jackson at the 129th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick159
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
They read the board right and Jarrian Jones was the payoff at pick 159. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jalyx Hunt
They paid up for Jalyx Hunt at pick No. 162 when waiting would have done the job. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
