Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
C+
ValueD
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Bills land in the muddy middle: C+. The Bills went off the board in a big way for Jacob Rodriguez, 92 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Muhammad at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
If KC Concepcion and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
KC Concepcion
In pick No. 26 they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
Jacob Rodriguez
They talked themselves into Jacob Rodriguez at Round 2, Pick 28, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick126
Rnd4
Aamil Wagner
Value said wait; Aamil Wagner in No. 126 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick167
Rnd5
Adepoju Adebawore
They reached into another round for Adepoju Adebawore, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick220
Rnd7
Brandon Inniss
Brandon Inniss in the 220th pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick228
Rnd7
Jalen Thompson
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jalen Thompson in Round 7, Pick 12, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
