Best value of the weekend goes to the Bills for Allen: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. LeQuint Allen tumbling to the Bills in the Round 5 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

The Hairston pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 30th pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick56 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Nothing to complain about; Trey Amos went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick62 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, quarterback and other spots to take Maxwell Hairston, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick109 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at pick No. 109 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick132 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
They let Miles Frazier come to them and pounced at pick 132. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick170 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in slot 170 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick173 Rnd5 LeQuint Allen
A running back of that caliber at the 173rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick177 Rnd6 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in pick 177 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They will replay Dont'e Thornton Jr. at No. 206 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
