A respectable, level-headed haul for the Bills: B-. Nobody else had Sheridan Jones anywhere near slot 163. The Bills did, by 56 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In the 28th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
Nothing to complain about; Darius Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick60
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kingsley Suamataia. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in pick 128 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
They paid a round early for Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick160
Rnd5
Johnny Dixon
They reached a country mile for Johnny Dixon at slot 160, and the board is aghast. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick163
Rnd5
Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones at pick 163 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick189
Rnd6
Logan Lee
A wild overpay on Logan Lee in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick200
Rnd6
Evan Williams
A reach on Evan Williams in the 200th pick; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick248
Rnd7
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal in pick No. 248 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
