Draft Grade — Texans
Overall
B
ValueB

TradesB-
FutureB-
Arnold should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. Jackson Arnold, the No. 204 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Jagusah left real value on the table behind him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Jeremiyah Love
Jeremiyah Love slipping to No. 16 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick39
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at the 39th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick47
Rnd2
Trevor Goosby
Trevor Goosby at pick No. 47 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick66
Rnd3
CJ Allen
CJ Allen at the 66th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107
Rnd4
Charles Jagusah
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Charles Jagusah well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick116
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in slot 116 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick155
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Nothing to complain about; Chase Roberts went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jerry Wilson
Jerry Wilson in the Round 7 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jackson Arnold
A quarterback of that caliber at the 237th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
