Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesC+
FutureB-
The Packers let Allen fall and pounced. Final grade: B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how LeQuint Allen got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at the Round 6 slot. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Ezeiruaku has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick54
Rnd2
Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at No. 54 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick56
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
A premium they did not need to pay, Donovan Ezeiruaku a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jalen Royals
They paid sticker price for Jalen Royals in pick No. 62, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick87
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
You do not let a tight end like Harold Fannin Jr. reach the 87th overall pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick108
Rnd4
Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at pick 108 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 123rd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick131
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
They will replay Jordan Phillips at Round 4, Pick 30 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick160
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
A reach for Willie Lampkin in the Round 5 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick200
Rnd6
LeQuint Allen
Circle this one: LeQuint Allen at Round 6, Pick 22 is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick251
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
Kitan Crawford at No. 251 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
