FutureB
The Bills turned the phones into found money: B+. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jordan Jefferson in the 129th overall pick, a good 57 spots before the room expected him. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Jones at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick35
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
Keon Coleman in slot 35 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick60
Rnd2
Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in pick 60 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick90
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonah Elliss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99
Rnd3
Sataoa Laumea
Sataoa Laumea in No. 99 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick129
Rnd4
Jordan Jefferson
Value said wait; Jordan Jefferson in pick No. 129 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick159
Rnd5
Anthony Gould
Anthony Gould at the 159th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Sione Vaki
A straight-up fair deal on Sione Vaki at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick163
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones in Round 5, Pick 27 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick198
Rnd6
Nick Gargiulo
They took Nick Gargiulo at par in No. 198, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford at slot 202 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick206
Rnd6
Daijun Edwards
By-the-book stuff, Daijun Edwards at pick No. 206 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick246
Rnd7
Evan Williams
Evan Williams at the 246th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick247
Rnd7
Carter Bradley
A conviction pick on Carter Bradley at pick 247 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
