The Bills did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The war room fell hard for Paris Shand, and it showed at Round 6, Pick 29: 109 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Schwesinger. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In slot 30 they get a two-high chess piece, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden at the 56th pick is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in pick No. 62 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
They liked Joshua Farmer enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 4, Pick 6. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick130
Rnd4
O'Donnell Fortune
A clean, defensible pick in pick 130 with a little surplus value in O'Donnell Fortune. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick169
Rnd5
Simeon Barrow Jr.
They paid a round early for Simeon Barrow Jr. in the Round 5 slot, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick172
Rnd5
Carson Schwesinger
They robbed the room for Carson Schwesinger here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick175
Rnd5
Mac McWilliams
Mac McWilliams at pick 175 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick202
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in Round 6, Pick 27 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204
Rnd6
Paris Shand
They reached into another round for Paris Shand, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
