Draft Grade — Cardinals

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Cardinals. You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Cardinals spent the Round 3 slot on Caelen Carson while quarterback, tight end and other spots sat unaddressed.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They banked enough surplus on Worthy to cover a lot of smaller sins. The Carson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 11th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick23
Rnd1
Quinyon Mitchell
In No. 23 they get an island corner. More want than need.
Pick27
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get juice off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick42
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
No drama and no debate, Chris Braswell went about where he belonged in the 42nd overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick66
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Worthy in the 66th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick71
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at slot 71 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
A curious use of pick 86. Quarterback, tight end and other spots needed the pick; a cornerback in Caelen Carson did not.
Pick90
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
A conviction pick on Christian Mahogany at pick No. 90 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick104
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
A straight-up fair deal on Braelon Allen at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick123
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray at pick 123 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
