Bighillga DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons

Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
D-

FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Falcons to a D-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Falcons spent pick No. 239 on Arian Smith, a name the board had a full 117 spots lower.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Walker at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In the 17th pick they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick48
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
They robbed the room for Jalon Walker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick66
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter in the Round 3 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at Round 4, Pick 17 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick239
Rnd7
Arian Smith
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Arian Smith. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
