Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the 49ers.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The 49ers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The Dorlus reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Graham Barton
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63 Rnd2 Brandon Dorlus
They paid up for Brandon Dorlus at pick 63 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
The board had Dadrion Taylor-Demerson higher than the 94th overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick109 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
No edge and no loss on Matt Goncalves in No. 109; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick124 Rnd4 McKinnley Jackson
By-the-book stuff, McKinnley Jackson at pick No. 124 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Isaiah Davis
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Davis went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 15. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick215 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
A straight-up fair deal on JD Bertrand at the 215th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick251 Rnd7 Jalen Coker
Jalen Coker at slot 251 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
