Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the 49ers for Reese: B.

There is a lot to like until you notice running back is still a hole. The 49ers never got to the one that mattered most.

However the rest shakes out, Reese at that price is a win they earned. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse. The dealing was even money, start to finish.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 24 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter slid further than he should have, and the 58th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick94 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
Omar Cooper Jr. is a better player than No. 94 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
Jakobe Thomas at pick 127 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick133 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
Nice patience on Keylan Rutledge, who had no business lasting to the 133rd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick138 Rnd4 Isaiah World
No edge and no loss on Isaiah World in slot 138; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
