Daddygaff DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bengals and Stutsman: B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Danny Stutsman got past him. The Bengals do not have to explain a thing at No. 154. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Walker reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Mike Green
In No. 17 they get a disruptor off the edge. Need was not the driver here.
Pick49
Rnd2
Deone Walker
Deone Walker in pick No. 49 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Savion Williams
They liked Savion Williams enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 3, Pick 17. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick118
Rnd4
Omarr Norman-Lott
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Omarr Norman-Lott in pick 118, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick154
Rnd5
Danny Stutsman
Somehow Danny Stutsman was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
A conviction pick on Hayden Conner at the 195th pick that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
