Draft Grade — Bears
Overall F
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureD+
The Bears robbed the room for Thieneman. Final grade: F.

The phones were a trap the Bears kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Curry to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. However the rest shakes out, Thieneman at that price is a win they earned.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left cornerback open, and the grade is the bill.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 36 with a little surplus value in Anthony Hill Jr.. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick57 Rnd2 Akheem Mesidor
By-the-book stuff, Akheem Mesidor at the 57th pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Dillon Thieneman
Dillon Thieneman in Round 3, Pick 3 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick89 Rnd3 Caden Curry
The board had cheaper options than Caden Curry at slot 89, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94 Rnd3 Emmett Johnson
A quiet steal in pick 94: Emmett Johnson for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Kage Casey
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kage Casey. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick163 Rnd5 Kobe Baynes
They took Kobe Baynes at par in the 163rd pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick239 Rnd7 Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams at Round 7, Pick 23 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick241 Rnd7 Micah Morris
Micah Morris at pick 241 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
