Draft Grade — Bills
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Bills got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

The war room fell hard for Kimani Vidal, and it showed at the 200th pick: 53 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Put together, it is a D-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. That Hicks pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in pick No. 35 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick44 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
They liked Braden Fiske enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 12. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick60 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice in the 60th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick77 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
By-the-book stuff, Mike Sainristil at pick 77 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jaden Hicks in slot 104, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick128 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Good price on Johnny Wilson in the 128th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick144 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
No edge and no loss on Mason McCormick in Round 5, Pick 8; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick160 Rnd5 Walter Rouse
A straight-up fair deal on Walter Rouse at the 160th pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick163 Rnd5 Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at pick 163 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick189 Rnd6 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at pick No. 189 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick200 Rnd6 Kimani Vidal
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kimani Vidal this early at the Round 6 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
