Draft Grade — Bills

The phones sank the Bills this weekend: D-. The Bills went off the board in a big way for Kimani Vidal, 47 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Booker falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Linebacker is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick35
Rnd2
Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick60
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
They read the board right and Xavier Legette was the payoff at the 60th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick77
Rnd3
Austin Booker
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Austin Booker in pick 77. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick105
Rnd4
Maason Smith
A straight-up fair deal on Maason Smith at Round 4, Pick 5, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jalyx Hunt
Jalyx Hunt at slot 113 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick118
Rnd4
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett in pick No. 118 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick133
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
Fair-plus on Leonard Taylor III, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick144
Rnd5
Mason McCormick
They liked Mason McCormick enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 144. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick160
Rnd5
James Williams
A reach on James Williams in the 160th overall pick; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick163
Rnd5
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at Round 5, Pick 27 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick222
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor at pick No. 222 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
