Draft Grade — Bills
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Bills got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bills took Kimani Vidal a full 56 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Puni pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Adonai Mitchell
A straight-up fair deal on Adonai Mitchell at the 29th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick53 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell is a better player than slot 53 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick60 Rnd2 Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice at Round 2, Pick 28 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick83 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
Value with a capital V on Xavier Legette in the 83rd pick, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick99 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson slipping to pick 99 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick112 Rnd4 DeWayne Carter
They let DeWayne Carter come to them and pounced at pick No. 112. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick128 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
They barely believed it either: Dominick Puni still on the board at pick No. 128. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick154 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick161 Rnd5 Marist Liufau
No edge and no loss on Marist Liufau in the 161st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick163 Rnd5 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 27 is lovely value for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick187 Rnd6 Logan Lee
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Logan Lee. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick196 Rnd6 Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at the 196th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
