Draft Grade — Bills

FutureC
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bills to a D-. The Bills spent real capital to be 53 picks early on Kimani Vidal, and the board is going to hold them to it.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 6 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 28 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick60
Rnd2
Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at the 60th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick65
Rnd3
Austin Booker
A premium they did not need to pay, Austin Booker a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick99
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at Round 3, Pick 36 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick101
Rnd4
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Javon Foster at pick No. 118 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Justin Eboigbe. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick154
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
A conviction pick on Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick189
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent in pick 189 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick200
Rnd6
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at Round 6, Pick 25 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
