Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Grand theft in Round 2, Pick 27: the Lions steal Ramsey and grade out a B+.

The real work happened on the phones. The Lions fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They are betting Rucci proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They banked enough surplus on Ramsey to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The Lions clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In pick No. 30 they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick59 Rnd2 Kamari Ramsey
The board fumbled Kamari Ramsey all the way to No. 59, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
No edge and no loss on Jacob Rodriguez in pick 94; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick118 Rnd4 J.C. Davis
By-the-book stuff, J.C. Davis at the 118th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick125 Rnd4 Tacario Davis
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tacario Davis at the 125th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg slipping to No. 128 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun is a better player than the 155th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick186 Rnd6 Nolan Rucci
A real head-scratcher, Nolan Rucci in Round 6, Pick 7 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick203 Rnd6 Barion Brown
Barion Brown at pick 203 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick212 Rnd6 Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh at the 212th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick222 Rnd7 Jack Velling
A straight-up fair deal on Jack Velling at pick No. 222, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
