Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Lions kept it disciplined and banked a B.

There is a lot to like until you notice cornerback is still a hole. The Lions never got to the one that mattered most. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They banked enough surplus on Watts to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will need Robinson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the cornerback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
They took Tyler Booker at par in pick No. 38, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick60 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
A tidy bit of business in pick 60, where Xavier Watts graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They let Donovan Jackson come to them and pounced at No. 76. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick120 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Nice patience on Anthony Belton, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick130 Rnd4 Kobe King
Kobe King in Round 4, Pick 28 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 173rd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick177 Rnd6 Que Robinson
Que Robinson at the 177th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
