Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureC+
Nix is the plan now, and the Seahawks grade out a B-. The search is over. The Seahawks handed the keys to Bo Nix, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Seahawks had louder needs to answer first. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They banked enough surplus on Restrepo to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In the 29th pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61
Rnd2
Brandon Dorlus
No edge and no loss on Brandon Dorlus in slot 61; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jackson Powers-Johnson
By-the-book stuff, Jackson Powers-Johnson at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick81
Rnd3
Maason Smith
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE and leaves linebacker, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick118
Rnd4
Cooper Beebe
Fair-plus on Cooper Beebe, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
They took Ben Sinnott at par in pick No. 154, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick194
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
No drama and no debate, Joshua Gray went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 19. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick236
Rnd7
Xavier Restrepo
A tidy bit of business in the 236th overall pick, where Xavier Restrepo graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
