The phones sank the 49ers this weekend: D-.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The 49ers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The Phillips pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with running back, quarterback and other spots still on the board. If Sweat pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

However the rest shakes out, Jacobs at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
They paid up for T'Vondre Sweat at Round 2, Pick 2 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick63 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske slipping to the 63rd overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Nice patience on Xavier Worthy, who had no business lasting to No. 68. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
