The board owed the Panthers one, and it paid up: Blake Miller, the No. 125 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 192 like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

If Capehart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
