Draft Grade — Cardinals

The Cardinals did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Cardinals put a flag in the ground for Aireontae Ersery, 29 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
However the rest shakes out, Burden III at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Aireontae Ersery
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick47
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III in slot 47 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick78
Rnd3
Darien Porter
They paid sticker price for Darien Porter in pick 78, and that is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick115
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in the 115th pick with a little surplus value in Smael Mondon Jr.. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick152
Rnd5
Tyler Baron
They paid a round early for Tyler Baron in pick No. 152, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225
Rnd7
R.J. Mickens
R.J. Mickens at Round 7, Pick 9 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
