Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Browns spent the 255th pick on Thor Griffith, a name most had 57 spots down the list.

That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
