Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys let Henderson fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. TreVeyon Henderson tumbling to the Cowboys in the 151st overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

The Howard pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In pick 13 they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick77 Rnd3 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at No. 77 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick114 Rnd4 Deone Walker
Deone Walker in slot 114 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick151 Rnd5 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 151st overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick169 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
They will replay Raheim Sanders at pick No. 169 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick170 Rnd5 Gunnar Helm
A premium they did not need to pay, Gunnar Helm a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick172 Rnd5 Will Howard
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Will Howard well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick188 Rnd6 Donovan Jackson
They barely believed it either: Donovan Jackson still on the board at the Round 6 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick198 Rnd6 Hunter Wohler
A straight-up fair deal on Hunter Wohler at Round 6, Pick 23, value and slot in agreement. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick209 Rnd6 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at slot 209 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
