FutureC+
The Cowboys bled value on every deal, hence the D-. Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cowboys, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.
Milton III has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. Flournoy falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The Alex Singleton pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
JC Latham
In slot 10 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick12
Rnd1
Laiatu Latu
They took Laiatu Latu at par in No. 12, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick24
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
Terrion Arnold at Round 1, Pick 24 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick27
Rnd1
Tyler Guyton
In the 27th pick they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick47
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick87
Rnd3
Trey Benson
By-the-book stuff, Trey Benson at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Maason Smith
They paid sticker price for Maason Smith in pick No. 104, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick174
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. The roster fit checks out.
Pick216
Rnd6
Trey Knox
Trey Knox at Round 6, Pick 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick226
Rnd7
Ryan Flournoy
They will replay Ryan Flournoy at the 226th pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick233
Rnd7
Jordan Whittington
A reach on Jordan Whittington in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
