If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Saints, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

However the rest shakes out, Howard at that price is a win they earned. If Gregory pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
