Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
D+
ValueB-

TradesF
FutureA+
Maye is the plan now, and the Bears grade out a D+. The Bears lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
So much rides on Drake Maye that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Van Pran to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick 4 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
By-the-book stuff, Olumuyiwa Fashanu at the 9th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick35
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
Steal is underselling it; Chop Robinson at No. 35 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
A conviction pick on Cooper Beebe at the Round 2 slot that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick43
Rnd2
Kris Jenkins
A reach for Kris Jenkins in the 43rd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick50
Rnd2
Sedrick Van Pran
The board had cheaper options than Sedrick Van Pran at Round 2, Pick 18, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Kamren Kinchens
The board fumbled Kamren Kinchens all the way to pick No. 104, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick141
Rnd5
Devontez Walker
They went early on Devontez Walker in slot 141, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
