Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is not that Melton is a bad player; it is that the 49ers had louder needs to answer first.

On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
