This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jake Slaughter, the No. 55 name on the board, stolen at Round 3, Pick 27. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cost of the Hurst reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
